Play Slots in Real Time on Your Mobile Phone
Posted on May 20th, 2007 9:57pm PST

The King is very excited to talk about the advancement in mobile technology as far as casino industry is concerned. Online gaming software giants Microgaming and Playtech have come out with slots that you can play on your mobile phone for free or for real money. This is a whole new ball game kids. Graphics and sound are great, the jackpots are updated in real time, and you have an opportunity to win huge amounts of money while playing on your phone or your PDA. Imagine hitting a big jackpot while you are waiting in the lineup at your local grocery store!

playing slots on your mobile phoneThe King has reviewed both Microgaming and Playtech mobile roulette games. They are both excellent. The Playtech game you can test out yourself by visiting our sponsor Casino Las Vegas. Sign up for an account and you will be able to download software directly to your phone from the internet, or transfer it from your computer to your mobile phone via Bluetooth, memory card or a cable.

The security is not an issue as both Microgaming and Playtech are big public companies and they take protection and data security very seriously. Security of your mobile phone transactions is on par with banking transactions for example, as the same encryption levels are used.

Anyhow, enough talking, it is Saturday night and the King is off to his favorite hangout downtown to say hi to his friends. You can bet your bottom dollar that he will be playing slots on his mobile phone every chance he gets.

Good Luck and all the best! The King.

More People are Playing Progressive Jackpots
Posted on May 6th, 2007 4:20pm PST

Recent industry reports indicate that progressive slots are becoming quite popular in online casinos this year. More people playing slot machines are pushing for greater jackpot amounts and greater jackpot amounts are attracting even more players. Online casino jackpot payouts are skyrocketing this year and this is great news for slot fans.

progressive jackpotThis is how progressive jackpots work: The value of the jackpot increases every time a game is played and as every player is contributing, one large combined jackpot is formed. Casinos display the jackpot money counter prominently in the slot machine area, and online casinos have a ticker displayed on your screen. A player can win the jackpot only by hitting the winning combination of symbols and at that time the counter is reset and the money starts accumulating from zero again.

It is always more fun playing slots knowing that there is a chance of a BIG score. So next time you play a slot machine, look for the one that has the biggest jackpot. You never know. It could be you walking away from the casino with a big bag of money, or walking away from your computer with some extra zeros in your bank account. Good luck!

If you are looking to spice up your experience playing slot machines, you should definitely try participating in a Vegas slot tournament. It is easy to spot a tournament in a casino. If you see a roped-off area and people behind it going mad tapping the spin buttons on their slot machines, you’ve come to the right place.

king playing in a slot tournament in vegasSlot tournaments are getting quite popular in Vegas casinos as they offer a group experience and heaps of prizes and goodies. Hotels sometimes offer special packages to the slot fans which include a welcoming party, awards ceremony, raffle tickets and door prizes.

The entry fees for for a slot tournament vary from $10 to several thousands of dollars. So whatever your budget is, there is a tournament for you.

Rules in slot tournaments are quite simple. Everyone starts with the same number of credits and a time limit to play them. When your time is up, the machine locks and the official comes and records your score.

The tournament is played in rounds and the best score holders from each round advance to the next.

If you are looking to participate in a slots tournament this summer here is a list of hotels and dates on which the tournaments are held.

How Can American Customers Get Money Online in a post-UIGEA environment?
Posted on April 19th, 2007 8:44 pm EST

We receive dozens of emails daily from the faithful readers of this site. The most commonly asked question is: as an American casino player who likes to play online (we know, you like to play in your underwear, you can't fool us), how can we get money online? Many of the e-wallets have suspended service to Americans. Neteller, Citadel and others like it will not serve Americans anymore. So what is the best way to move money online now?

Well there are several ways. Epassporte.com is an e-wallet, and they still serve the American community. They can be a bit slow sometimes, but regardless of that, they always come through and they are recommended by the big poker sites, so they must be somewhat legit.

Also, you can always use Western Union to move money online. Sure, the fees can be a bit much (I think that they charge 7% of whatever $$ amount you are moving.) Meaning, if you want to send $1000 into an online casino site, then you are going to be eating $70 in fees. On the flip side though, most casinos offer up to $500 in bonuses, so you can make your money back fairly easily.

Another way is to buy pre-paid Visa cards that are able to be used internationally. With these cards, you can even withdraw back onto them (up to the amount that you funded them with.) Pre-paid Visa cards and "gift" cards are quickly becoming the payment method of choice for people moving money online.

The bottom line is: there will ALWAYS be ways to move money online, no matter what kind of restrictions are placed by the US government. The casino industry is just too big, and the people running it are just too smart; there will always be ways to get your hard earned cash online.

The History of Slot Machines
Posted on September 7th, 2006 3:49 pm EST

What is the first thing you think of when asked about inventions that are over 100 years old? A lot of things might come to mind- electricity, the telephone, the typewriter. But would you honestly be able to answer slot machines?

Most people are unaware of the history of slot machines, but they have been around since the first one was hand made back in 1887! Because today’s casinos are filled with electronic screens and slot machine variations like Video Poker, it is hard for anyone to imagine that the slot machine actually had very humble origins that date back over a century.

The first slot machine was invented in San Francisco, California by an immigrant named Charles Fey. For this reason, Fey is often thought to be the grandfather of modern-day slots games. Even though there have been a lot of obvious technological advances, today’s slot machines are actually quite similar to the very first one that Fey made from scratch. If you saw the two of them side by side you would know they are cousins (albeit distant ones).

This first rustic-looking machine was made of iron since there were few other materials that could be procured at that time in history. Fey first built the iconic reels that are still used in modern-day slot machines. Today you see all kinds of pictures on them but Fey stuck to the basics- horseshoes (for luck), spades and hearts (like the suites in a deck of cards) and bells because of the ringing sound a machine would make upon a winning spin.

The original Slot machine was a runaway success, mostly due to the incredible curiosity surrounding the “one-armed bandit”, as the machine soon came to be called. Fey became the proprietor of not only that machine but several machines he built after that. He would rent them out to game rooms and they would pay him back half of the take.

At first, only women played the one-armed bandit, as it was thought to be a mindless game that was suitable for the fairer sex. Real men played cards. Remember, the year was 1887 and women in the US couldn’t even vote at the time!

From these humble beginning raised a Slots mania that still exists today. Depending on the casino, Slot machines can be responsible for anywhere from 30-60% of a given casino’s revenues. Though those “mindless” women still serve as the biggest part of the core of Slots enthusiasts, the gap is quickly closing as more and more men get in on all the fun.

Today, that original Slot machine has spawned such variations as Progressive Slots, Video Slots, Video Poker Slots, Bonus Slots, Multi-Reel Slots and more. The original machine is on display in a museum in Reno, Nevada today along with a picture of Fey. And to think- Fey was only 29 at the time of his invention that changed the world of gambling forever.

Strategy Tips for Playing Online Slots
Posted on September 7th, 2006 3:45 pm EST

There is not a whole lot of skill involved in playing online slot machines. However, you should still understand the game and know a few tricks for trying to maximize your winnings and having as much fun as possible. Here are a few:

1. Play Slot machines for fun instead of profit. Though there are professional gamblers in the world, they generally play games of skill like Poker or Blackjack. But even the pros know that luck has a lot to do with your success as well- and Slots are all luck. All slot machine wins are randomly generated by computer chip, so to try and make money by playing Slots does not work. No matter what the people trying to sell you a book on “Winning Slots Strategies” tries to tell you, Slots are not a game to be played for profit.

2. Understand the game you are playing. There are so many Slots variations these days (especially at online casinos) that it makes the mind boggle. These days, there is a lot more involved with in playing Slot machines than just inserting money and pulling a lever. There may be bonus rounds, jackpots, free spins or other things that must be understood before you can start playing certain modern-day Slot machines.

3. If you want to win big, you must play max coins. Let’s say you sit down to play a Slot machine that plays quarters. You insert your quarter and win. You will get a payout, but you won’t get the biggest payout possible for that winning combination, because you only played one quarter. To get the biggest payout, you should play the maximum amount of coins that this particular machine allows. This is especially true for Progressive jackpots. If you are playing a Progressive Slot machine and only play one coin, you will get a much smaller payout than if you play max ones. It could be double, triple or even 20x the amount you would win if you had simply played the one or two extra coins.

4. Realize that Slot machines are programmed by computer chip. They use a special chip and program called RNG (Random Number Generator) to randomly assign winning combinations. The mathematical equation for these is so complex that there would be absolutely no way that anyone could every break it. For this reason, Slots is a game of luck, and not skill like some other casino games (such as Poker or Blackjack).

5. Only spend an amount of money on Slot machines that you can afford to lose comfortably. This is actually good advice for any casino game. Decide on a number that you are going to play, and only play that amount. If you go beyond that number, you will be surprised at how quickly you spend and you may lose track- which could be turn into a disaster. You should also take this a step further and make sure that you do not re-bet what you win. If you budget $100 to spend on Slots and win say $70 from it, then you should pocket that money and go home. If you re-bet that $70, then your total Slots bets increase to $170, which means you have gone over your budget.

How to Sign Up and Play Online Slots
Posted on September 7th, 2006 3:49 pm EST

If you are new to the world of online gambling, you may be a little confused as to how to go about starting. Nobody is born with this knowledge, everyone had some growing pains when they first starting gambling on the net. But luckily, the King has already experienced a wealth of online casino action and can help. By carefully reading and following this guide, you will have a pain-free and well-informed entrance into this exciting world of online casinos. Every step for choosing the best casino for you and then signing up for it is discussed here so that anyone can join in the fun.

1. Decide on an online casino: This is actually the hardest part to starting online Slots play. There are literally hundreds of online casinos on the internet, all with different themes, layouts and focus games. In fact, some of these online casinos focus exclusively on Slots, which we will get into a bit more. The biggest thing here is to decide if you ONLY want to play Slots, or if you have other interests. If you are positive you only want to play Slots, then you might want to look into a Slots-only or Slots-intensive site like Super Slots. If you want to play other games like Blackjack or Video Poker, and then find a site that you like that has lots of Slots but also these other selections. For a more comprehensive look at how to decide on a casino, see the article “Choosing the Slots Casino that is Perfect for You” right here on this website.

2. Visit the Casino: You do not have to sign up as soon as you visit- take a good look around first. You will want to be familiar with the layout, graphics and other things. They may have a ‘preview’ section where you can take a look at screenshots from select games. Another great piece of advice is to take advantage of any free or demo games that they may offer. Many online casinos now have play-for-free versions of their software. While all games may not be available for this type of preview, it is still the best way to see if you will truly enjoy the experience of this particular casino without signing up and making a deposit.

3. Sign Up: Once you have previewed and chosen an online casino, you can then begin to play. But first, you must sign up. You need to decide if you want to download the full casino (usually a fairly small download) or if you want the Flash version that does not require a download. A Flash casino usually does not have all of the games, but if you choose Flash initially, you can always switch later to the full download version, and vice versa. Once you choose which version (usually called a ‘platform’), you can then begin to fill in all information that they ask for. This is the usual stuff when opening any type of online account- name, address, phone number, e-mail address, etc. Be sure to give complete and accurate information- they need it to send any cash and prizes you may win!

4. Make a deposit: This is where the money comes in. Though a few online casinos may give you free bonus money without making a deposit, this is very rare. In most cases you are going to have to make a deposit, and then get some free bonus money on top of that from the casino after your deposit is credited. There are many different ways to deposit money. You can use a third-party system like NeTeller, a credit card directly onto the site, send in a deposit by wire or bank transfer, or in some cases even a personal check is accepted once cleared. Each casino is different and you should make sure you pick one that has a deposit method that you approve of. For a more comprehensive look at types of deposits, read the article “Deposit Choices for Playing Online Slots”.

5. Claim Your Bonus: The King has never heard of an online casino that did not offer some sort of online bonus. While some are fairly small, others can be quite large. The amount of bonus you get is usually dependent upon how much you deposited. Once you make your deposit, there are several ways you might have to go about claiming your bonus. Sometimes it comes in the form of an instant credit, which means nothing further is required of you and you can simply continue to play. But most online casinos will ask that you fill out some type of form or e-mail someone in order to claim your bonus. You usually need your account name and number in order to do so, so make sure you have them handy.

6. Place Your Bets: That’s right- it’s time to start playing the Slots! If you follow the five steps noted above, you should now be ready to begin playing. If you have any other questions about playing Slots or the types of online Slots that you may encounter, you can always refer to the articles on this site for the most comprehensive online Slots information on the web.

The Top 5 Progressive Slots at Online Casinos
Posted on September 7th, 2006 3:39 pm EST

The Top 5 Progressive Slots at Online Casinos

There are a lot of different ways to win big money at an online casino. But the easiest, fastest way (and arguably the most popular) way is to win a Progressive jackpot. These days, you can win a Progressive jackpot playing nearly any game that an online casino offers. From Blackjack to Roulette and most points in between, a Progressive jackpot is rather easy to find and play. But the majority of online Progressive Jackpots are in the form of Slot machines. With as little as 50 cents, you could possibly win a very large sum of money with just a simple spin of the machine. In fact, today there are so many Progressive Slot machines that you may not know which ones are best. Here we have the top five Progressive Slot machines on the net. Each of these was carefully researched and chosen to give you the most bang for your buck.

1. King Cashalot: This is one of the best Progressive Slots on the net for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is because it only costs $2.25 when played with max coins (which you must play in order to win the Progressive jackpot. Any other amount will result in a win, but not the big win). Most casinos that carry the Microgaming software will also carry King Cashalot, since that is the company that offers it. The game itself is five reels and nine paylines, with the ninth payline being the one that pays off the Progressive jackpot when hit with max coins being played. There is a bonus game that is invoked by the ninth line that will enable you to become rich instantly. Once the jackpot has been won, it starts all over at $100,000 and goes up from there. Recent jackpots have been in the $600,000 to $800,000 range, though it has been known to occasionally go over $1 million.

2. Millionaire’s Club: Another great, high-paying Progressive Slot machine that doesn’t take a whole lot of money to play. To play max coins and potentially win the big jackpot, you are looking at a total of only $3 per spin, which is a small sum in comparison to the cost of some Progressive jackpots. Millionaire’s Club is a specialty of WaterLogic Software Company, which provides the gaming software to some of the best and most reputable online casinos. The jackpot starts fresh at $175,000 each time it is won, and climbs in amount with each and every spin. You must play max coins and invoke the bonus round. Should you win the bonus round you win the big jackpot. The bonus round has four parts to it so it may sound a bit complicated- but its actually quite easy and could make you a millionaire instantly.

3. Major Millions: This Progressive Slot may actually sound quite a bit like the Millionaire’s Club. It takes only $3 to play and can make you a millionaire with a single spin. The biggest difference is that Major Millions is played at the Microgaming casinos that choose to carry it, whereas the Millionaire’s Club is played at WaterLogic casinos. Also, Major Millions starts fresh at $250,000 each time the jackpot is won, which is one of the highest starting amounts for Progressive jackpots. Most start at zero to begin and can take months to get to the starting amount for Major Millions.

4. Gold Rally: The good folks who work for PlayTech (which builds software platforms for online casinos) invented Gold Rally as their way of throwing their hat into the Progressive Slots ring. This is a very colorful Video Slot machine that has bonus rounds that allow you to multiply your initial win- up to and including the big jackpot which starts at a cool $20,000 and climbs with each play. Gold Rally is a whopping nine reels of hot Slots action, and has eight paylines for you to potentially win with. At $16 per max coin spin, it is admittedly more than some can spend. But it does payout quite often and for some is worth the gamble.

5. $5 Million Winning Streak: This huge Progressive Slot machine is very different from the previous four on this list, and for good reason. The first is that it is a custom game made by a software company (PlayTech) but not for all of their casinos to use. Instead it is made only for Golden Palace Online Casino, which is one of the best on the net. The second reason is the jackpot- it is a static jackpot (which means it never increases or decreases) of a whopping $5 million! One spin of this game will make you five times as rich as most of the other Progressive Slots on the net today.

Different Types of Online Slots Bonuses
Posted on September 7th, 2006 3:37 pm EST

When you visit any online casino to take a look around, you will likely see that they have some sort of bonus for signing up. In fact, you usually can’t miss it because the graphics are in bold colors everywhere. Some of the bonuses are rather large and span over many deposits, while others may be a one-time only bonus. In fact, there are a few different types of bonuses that you may be offered at an online casino, and four main ones to be exact. Those bonus types are signup, referral, special and deposit bonuses. Each type will be discussed at length here.

Signup Bonuses

Every online casino has some kind of signup bonus that they give to new players. While some are on the lower end of the spectrum, most are quite large due to the fact that the online casino business is very cut-throat. Every casino knows that they must give you the very best bonus in order to attract new customers. This means that you as the potential customer win, as you get more and more free money to play as each casino tries to woo you with their offers.

While some signup bonuses are one-time only, there are several that are over your first few deposits. If a casino offers you a $1000 signup bonus, most likely it is a set amount for each of your first few deposits that can add up to $1000, depending on the amount you deposit each time. For instance, the bonus may be up to $200 for each deposit you make the first five times you make a deposit, so you have the potential for $1000, but you can only reach that amount if you deposit the max amount five times.

Signup bonuses are what are usually referred to as match bonuses. This means you deposit a certain amount of money, and the casino will match it up to a certain amount. For instance, let’s say the casino offers a signup bonus of 100% up to $100. That means if you deposit $50, you get $50 free. If you deposit $100, you get $100 free. If you deposit $200, then you still get $100 free, because that is the limit. This is a match bonus.

The other type of signup bonus that you might encounter is what is called a free bonus. This means that the casino will put money in your account just for signing up- no deposit required! This is a great chance to try real-money games and see what they are like without spending a dime out of your own pocket. This type of bonus is rare though so you should make sure that you take advantage of one when you come across them.

It is important to note that a signup bonus is given to brand-new players only. If you already have an account with that particular casino, you can not claim a signup bonus and you especially can not make a second account to take advantage of a signup bonus. Not only are you only allowed one account per casino, in some cases its one account per household per casino. So making a second account is not only against the rules, but it could result in suspension of your first account. There are many other bonuses that established players can claim instead, all of which are discussed here.

Deposit Bonuses

After your initial signup bonus, most online casinos will still offer you other types of bonuses to keep you coming back. They are businesses and realize that it is not enough simply to lure you in with a big, flashy signup bonus. They must continuously work to keep you from leaving to another casino, and they use deposit bonuses to do just that.

Most deposit bonuses are match bonuses as described above. They may offer you a 200% match up to $100, which means that you can deposit only $50 and get $100 free, meaning you have $150 in your account (sometimes called a bankroll) with which to work.

Another type of deposit bonus is what is sometimes referred to as a static bonus. This means that you get one set amount of bonus money as long as you deposit a minimum amount. For instance, one online casino recently ran a promotion where you would get $250 free as long as you deposited $100. If you deposit less than $100, you get no bonus. Anything more than $100 and you still get the static amount of $250.

Referral Bonuses

If you love playing at an online casino that you signed up for and know somebody in the market to start gambling online, then perhaps you should refer them to the casino to earn some extra bonus money. Most casinos have some type of referral bonus and/or program. Before you tell them to sign up, though make sure that you understand the bonus or program. Sometimes in order to get the bonus you have to fill out some type of form, or the person signing up does. Make sure you understand and follow the steps to get your referral bonus BEFORE you refer, that way you never have to worry about not getting your money. The amount of the referral bonus varies from site to site.

Special Bonuses

In addition to the aforementioned bonuses, you can also sometimes collect special promotional bonuses that a casino may offer from time to time. These vary greatly and are sometimes seasonal, so if you want to take advantage of this type of bonus, you should jump on it quite quickly before they disappear.

Some examples of special bonuses may be a small bonus on your birthday that some casinos will offer. Others may include trivia, sweepstakes and other contests. There may even be game-specific bonuses. For instance, casinos have been known to run contests where whoever wagers the most on Blackjack will win a bonus at the end of the contest period.

There may even be bonuses that you can only use on specific games. For instance, say you sign up for a casino that has several different games. But you specifically want to play Slots only. There may be a special Slots-only bonus for people just like you that can only be wagered on Slot machines.
